Who and where is Sell My Tools?
My name is Michael and I am based in Nottingham, which is worth considering when you are going to get in touch.
Although I would travel to the far reaches of the country for tool collections and workshop clearances, I wouldn't travel more than one hour for singular items of any value, I do however, now offer the opportunity to have Royal Mail / Parcelforce pick up your items, if you are willing to wrap them and weigh them.
I spent 10 years in car and commercial bodywork and the last 18 years in Carpentry.
This means that I am especially interested in Carpentry and Motor trade tool collections, including vintage and antique, but also in modern cordless power tools, all of which can be used in my work.
Unlike other tool buyers, we DO accept tools with engraved names or permanent marker.
Also, we never lower the price, stating condition is lower than expected, you get the price offered every time.

How will I get paid?
When the items are collected from your home, It is physical cash - banknotes. Sometimes items are picked up by mail courier and then payment is made by bank transfer or PayPal upon receipt.

Do you honour your prices or lower them on inspection?
If the item/s function as intended and you have mentioned any defects, you will be paid the exact sum you were quoted.

How do you work out the prices?
In most cases, prices are based on recent auction figures, but each quote is worked out individually and can be based on numerous factors like; age, condition, location, desirability, security markings, risk.

I've seen my item/s fetching more online.
You could clean, photograph and advertise your item/s online for more money.

What condition do my tools have to be in?
Generally, the tools can be in any condition as long as they function as intended, the better the quality - the higher the price.

Why don't you have Trustpilot reviews?
The vast majority of my client-base stems from those who have lost a loved one and the need to clear a shed or garage.
Whilst I am certain that everyone is pleased with the service, out of respect, I would not request that they leave me a rating for fulfilling that need, at that time. There are however, some unprompted customer comments below.

I have too many tools to photograph....
A very common problem!
Photograph maybe 4 or 5 items that you think may be significant, or, photograph the room from a few angles.
Add the photos to either the contact form or click on the WhatsApp widget and sellmytools.online will guide you through any further steps.

Can I bring my tools to you or meet you half way?
There are currently no options for bringing tools to us, although it is not out of the question in the future.
As far as meeting in a lay-by goes - It's a 'no' to that too!

I don't want to give you my name, address or contact details.
For legal reasons, no interaction will be made without contact details.
If you do not sell your tools, your details will be deleted within 7 days.
For those who do sell tools, a name and address shall be kept on paper, for 6 years.

If items are quoted for through photos, it can be done properly via research, there's no awkward face-to-face haggling.

What to do next
If you have lots of tools, don't photograph each item individually-
group a selection together or photograph an entire drawer or box,
I am able to zoom into photographs and identify most things, I can also tell what the standard of preservation will be across the board, by looking at a small group from the same collection.
Try and photograph the tools with light, even if its a torch.
On a smartphone, select camera option, then if the option is there - portrait photo. This will digitally enhance the quality of your shot, also, wipe the lens!
Once you have taken a photo, check it yourself to see if you can zoom in without blurring.
Try stabilising your phone or body against a solid object to take photos, clear photos make for bigger offers!
Try and include all items, things you may think have no value, could actually make you cash.
